Abstract

Brecon Beacons Local Nature Partnership (BBLNP), led by Brecon Beacons National Park Authority (BBNPA), would like to commission a Consultant to produce a Feasibility Study into Wildflower Seed Harvesting Operations within the Brecon Beacons National Park. Ideally the Consultant will have knowledge of Ecology, Wales and Seed Harvesting methods or will work in partnership with an expert who has this knowledge. The BBLNP has funding to set up the foundations of a local seed receptor and donor network, in the form of a small-scale trial and will be delivered within one year. The wider strategy is to embed this into the workstreams of all LNP Partners within the National Park. As such increasing the number of landowners, communities and organisations which the project can engage and support, to expand the Park’s species-rich grassland network.

Description of the goods or services required

Additional Information

The Local Nature Partnership has recently received funding for a pilot wildflower seed harvesting project across the BBNPA area which includes purchasing equipment for future years and the production of a Feasibility Study. Various discussions and meetings have been held with landowners and NGOs across the area around the need and practicalities of seed harvesting and notes of all these meetings will be made available to the successful Consultant to include in the Study.

Dates for Inception Meeting and Daft Document
We have received 2 questions regarding dates:

Q1 - Are you able to give some flexibility on the inception meeting (scheduled for 30th August)?

A - Yes. This can be decided by mutual agreement as long as it is within a reasonable timescale either side.

Q2 - Would you accept a proposed amendment to the 10th October deadline for the first draft of the Study?

A - Again this date can be slightly flexible to suit both parties. However we will require the Consultant to have an outline of their study around this date for us to approve and which can be refined during the rest of the contract.

A - Standard data layers (compatible with QGIS) can be made available to the successful Contractor as required.
