Abstract

NWSSP Procurement Services hosted by Velindre NHS Trust is seeking to establish a contract for NHS Wales Executive. NHS Wales Executive's Improvement Cymru Directorate is seeking to deliver a programme of work which uses the lean foundations of the Toyota Production System (TPS), or an equivalent model using the same principles of lean methodology. The aim of this work is to improve efficiency in the cancer pathway i.e. optimise systems and processes in the first 28 days that a patient is on a suspected cancer pathway in order to increase the number of patients who receive a diagnosis of cancer or not. The continued development of the programme will ensure continuity and constancy pan Wales in delivering improvements in practice which reduce variation, backlog, re-work and increase reliability in the cancer pathways across NHS Wales. Improvement Cymru require an awarded bidder to deliver two phases of work, towards their overall aim of improving the Suspected Cancer Pathway. These are outlined below: Phase 1: 1. Teach and train the TPS/equivalent model methodology in person at the organisations site, 2. Illustrate the TPS/equivalent model concepts using practical real-time/shop floor learning observations, alongside classroom teaching of these concepts 3. Provide on-site coaching and diagnostics to a multi professional team Phase 2: 1. Provide coaching and expert faculty guidance nationally as part of a ‘Break Through Series Collaborative’ learning event, attendance is mandatory for 3 in person learning days and virtual coaching and support.
