If this is not appropriate once we have scaffolding up and can see what has been previously used, as all areas may not be the same. We will vary the paint at that point as a closer inspection will be necessary ----------------------------------------------------------- Item 161 of the Schedule of Works shows the following specification description: There is a conflict between the ‘highly breathable silicate paint’ and the ‘exterior grade gloss’ descriptions. Silicate paint is breathable and gloss paint isn’t. Given that most of the existing walls are previously painted, applying breathable paint over the top may be unsuitable if the existing paint is a non-breathable type: The overall system will still be non-breathable. If the Architect requires a standard highly durable paint finish, we would suggest Dulux W/S Max Exposure paint (mist and 2nr. Coats). If the Architect requires a highly durable silicate paint, we would recommend Keim Royalan: 1nr. Coat Keim Soldalit Grob (applied at a rate of 0.25kg/m2) plus 2nr. Coats Keim Royalan (applied at a rate of 0.4kg/m2 over 2 coats). Keim Royalan is suitable for painting onto existing painted surfaces as well as bare. Note: Keim Royalan is a very expensive product, so using this product will have significant cost implications. Could you ask the Architect for clarification on specification.
