Abstract
Canal & River Trust are recruiting a Project Director to provide leadership and artistic and strategic direction of an exciting arts project in Wrexham.
Job Description
The Project Director will provide leadership and the artistic and strategic direction of the project, with responsibility for successful delivery of the artist in residence and community led placemaking programme on behalf of the Trust. Strategic direction will be integral to ensuring long-term sustainability outcomes and legacy beyond the project. They will be tasked with implementing the vision of the programme which will focus upon three key types of bold and experimental strategic programming that includes the commissioning of 'process' rather than prescribed outcomes. You will identify professional socially engaged artists to invite to work with communities along the World Heritage Site (WHS) canal corridor of Wrexham Borough to engage communities to explore and communicate through multiple artforms the genius loci of their 'place'.
The project will require an asset mapping approach to community and sector development. Identify platforms and partnerships to support artist, community-led activities and legacy building.
The Project Director will need to lead on engaging communities in a meaningful way through facilitating fresh perspectives of the wide-ranging layers of place, and through it empowering participatory and learning opportunities that support artist and community-led placemaking and capacity building.
Ambition and Best Practice: Facilitating Welsh, UK and internationally based artists to create meaningful, bold and or ambitious work with a sense of place in the heart of Wrexham / Wrexham Borough WHS corridor, with a holistic approach between artistic development, Canal & River Trust resources and partnerships.
