Abstract

Bridgend County Borough Council (BCBC) is commissioning a service that will provide support to children, young people and women within Bridgend County Borough who have been affected by domestic abuse. There will be two aspects to the service: - Evidenced-based programmes/support for children, young people and parents who have been affected by domestic abuse. - Evidence-based programmes/support for women who have experienced or are experiencing domestic abuse. The aim of the service is to deliver evidence-based programmes and/or support to children and young people who are unable to recover from the trauma they have encountered without therapeutic intervention and targeted support. Interventions will be age appropriate and designed to promote healthy relationships, explore how children/young people are feeling, and to build emotional resilience long term. To complement these programmes, the provider will also deliver a parental programme to support in repairing the parent-child attachment relationship and to build resilience and self-esteem as a family. Women’s interventions will be designed and delivered to help survivors identify the traits of a perpetrator and learn what healthy relationships look like, to try and facilitate change, supporting women in regaining ownership of their lives. We require an experienced provider who has skilled staff that have extensive experience and knowledge of working with children and young people and who understand complex family dynamics and trauma. This contract will support the Council in fulfilling its duties under the Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence (Wales) Act 2015 and the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014, supporting well-being and working preventatively with children, young people, and their families. Contract term: 12 Calendar Months from 1st October 2024, with the option to extend up to a further 12 months subject to funding. Please note: the contract may be subject to future changes due to financial constraints or reductions in Grant available, which may affect the contract value of any extension period.
