Glan yr Afon Demolition

Description of the goods or services required

Glan yr Afon comprises of a two-storey building with a single storey extension to one gable. Originally built as a single domestic dwelling circa 1940’s. The building and grounds are situated on a country road on the outskirts of Mochdre town and is accessed across a small bridge over an un-names water course. The site was acquired by Conwy County Borough Council and has since been used as a residential home for children.

The building and associated Structures require Demolition works undertaking. Please Refer to Volume 1 & 2 of Tender for full scope of works

Isolate Overhead Cables and incoming services

Disconnection of Services and set up of New DP connection and lockable water connection point for site and future use (Refer to Drawing Reference SK01)

Strip Topsoil (in locations to be agreed) and store on site

Provide Tree protection in accordance with ecologist protection (Refer to Appendix L and Drawing Reference TCP/4590/Y/100)

Bat protection measures and Installation of Temporary Bat Roost (Refer to Appendix J &K) (Bat protection may be by others)

Carry out stripping the site to a reduced ground level, clearing all trees, shrubs, roots and other vegetable and dispose off site as per Ecologist protection schedule/drawing (Refer to Appendix L and Drawing Reference TCP/4590/Y/100)

Removal and disposal of asbestos (Refer to Appendix I)

Carry out soft strip of deleterious materials

Soft Strip-out internally removal the building floor coverings, suspended ceilings, partitions, doors, windows, air conditioning, mechanical and electrical fittings and fixtures.

Undertake a CAT scan and denote on site plan

Access equipment to allow safe removal of roof slates by hand

Removal of roof slates by hand under the supervision of Ecologist (Ecologist to be employed by CCBC).

Mechanical Demolition of masonry and timber super structure and transport offsite for recycling or disposal

Mechanical demolition of concrete and masonry sub-structure and transport off site for recycling or disposal at a licensed tip.

Excavate existing tarmacadam and concrete hardstanding areas to expose consolidated aggregate and remove to a licensed tip.

Crush all building rubble, concrete, foundations etc. and leave on site to be used in development phase as 6F2/3 recycled Aggregate.

Include to cap off/ make safe and secure existing surface water and foul drainage runs uncovered as part of the works, in addition, allow for attendance on other/ relevant utility bodies to investigate and remove unsafe or redundant items of infrastructure.

Excavate and remove all below ground redundant services back to approved isolation points and/or chambers.

Removal of underground oil tanks

Reinstate all excavations with Type 1 MOT compacted in layers of 150mm finished at Ground Level

Compacted aggregate to be laid to the extents shown in Landscape drawing 694-STO-00-00-DR-L-0001

Construction of Foul M-H chamber. Final position to be agreed on site

Provide O&M manual in electronic format. Manual to include photographic studies and records of the demolition process as works proceed. (1No printed copy to be supplied)

Any other activities required to complete the works
