Description of the contract
A one off tender was issued for the renewal of heating plant in the swimming pool block at St. Martins Comprehensive School, Hillside, Caerphilly.
The scope of the project was fully described in the ITT and supporting documentation but in summary the scope was:
- The contractor shall cost all necessary resources including weekend and overtime working to allow the project to be completed within the specified contract period.
- Carefully survey all services in the existing boiler room and remove all redundant mechanical and electrical services including any brackets and containment and all existing plant bases. The existing entrance door and high level louvre shall be removed and replaced as specified When removed, the building structure shall be made good and a new steel door set and steel louvre shall be installed.
- The contractor shall construct all new necessary concrete plant bases and shall install and set to work all new plant and controls generally as shown on the tender drawing. All new and existing services within the boiler room are to insulated as specified.
- The contractor shall employ the boiler manufacturer’s commissioning engineers to commission the new boilers and certificate them.
- Employ specialist commissioning engineers to hydraulically balance all system and sub circuits, and demonstrate the correct operation of all systems to the satisfaction of the contract administrator.
The timescale for the work is 6 weeks from commencement of the contract. Contractors shall note that the maximum time the school can be closed for is 6 weeks and if they cannot complete the work detailed in that time then they should not submit a tender proposal.
Contractors shall submit a detailed programme of works when submitting their costs for the project.
The Contractors shall detail all key timings showing as a minimum, site setup, plant delivery, re-instatement works and commissioning and how this will be achieved in the 6-week period given.
