Abstract

The NIFG is an independent, non-formal international network encompassing national institutions advocating for future generations. The NIFG’s mission, as set out in 2018, is to promote governance for future generations and to grow the number of countries implementing future generations governance. Following the commitment of the UN Secretary-General to incorporate future generations governance in the UN system in the ‘Our Common Agenda’ report 2021, the next three years offers an opportunity for the NIFG to renew its mission to grow its network and profile. In June 2022, the NIFG’s membership agreed to diversity and expand the NIFG. The consultancy below will support the development of this strategic direction. In addition – a request has been made to the NIFG by the UN Secretary General’s Office to support the development of Future Generations governance updates to the UN system. Consultancy The FGC is looking to recruit a consultant between August to December 2022. The deliverables for this assignment will include; • Capture overview of NIFG powers/remit and summarise as input for the UN Secretary General’s Office (by October) • Planning and facilitating a NIFG strategy meeting with all NIFG members around the network’s proposal to diversity and expand its membership in October 2022 • Identifying potential new members (including global networks) of the NIFG and drafting an engagement plan for potential new members • Draft a NIFG three-year action plan (2022-2025). This should be a short action plan no longer than 5-10 pages in word format • Producing an opinion-editorial or blog on the NIFG’s strategy • Attendance at NIFG meetings (as required)
