Description of the contract
Bannau Brycheiniog National Park is a cherished natural and cultural heritage site located in South Wales, renowned for its stunning landscapes, diverse wildlife, and rich history. Our current websites serve as a crucial gateway for visitors, residents, and stakeholders seeking information, resources, and engagement opportunities related to the park. To continue fulfilling this vital role effectively, we recognise the need for a modern, dynamic, and user-focused online platform.
This website tender represents an exciting opportunity to collaborate with us in reshaping the digital presence of Bannau Brycheiniog National Park. We aim to create an immersive, informative, and accessible online environment that not only highlights the Park's unparalleled beauty but also facilitates seamless communication, education, and engagement.
As the custodians of this remarkable natural asset, we are committed to promoting sustainable tourism, conservation, and community involvement. Our new website should reflect these values and serve as a comprehensive resource for a wide range of users, from visitors planning their visits to researchers studying the park's ecology and history and residents looking for planning application guidance and other service delivery information.
Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority currently hosts two websites, one focused on the National Park as a destination (breconbeacons.org) which is aimed at visitors and recreational users of the Park, and the other is focused on the work of the Authority (Bannau.wales). These websites are dated and need a thorough review and redevelopment. Following a consultation, it is intended to create a unified image of the two websites, giving the user the impression of using only one website whilst potentially moving between the two.
The Authority aims to commission an agency or company to work alongside the authority’s Communication Team and in-house Web Developer to produce a new online presence, using content from breconbeacons.org and Bannau.wales, and updating and augmenting the site so that it is fit for purpose for the issues we face today and will face tomorrow.
Note that the Authority welcomes applications from combinations of companies or freelance individuals who have the capabilities to produce the work effectively and confidently.
The tender asks for a full consultation on the current websites amongst all staff and departments of the Authority. Project management and liaison with staff and full design and development of a fresh new online presence including integration with current systems that the Authority have in place. It also requires the development of new systems for specific needs. The tender holder will also be asked to coordinate the new website’s launch and work with the Authority’s IT Team to ensure the site is hosted successfully on the Authority's internal servers.
The existing websites contain a wealth of information and a bank of content that will need to be repurposed. However, how the information it presents needs to be overhauled.
The Authority is also keen to refine its core messages surrounding Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, emphasising the fragile nature of Bannau Brycheiniog and the need to use the area responsibly, allowing its wildlife, landscapes, and communities to thrive. Building on the work already undertaken whilst establishing the new ‘Bannau Brycheiniog’ brand.
