Description of the goods or services required

Following our review of Essential Skills Wales qualifications, we are now embarking on a period of reform to address the issues identified by the review.

We are seeking to recruit up to three subject advisors (per subject) to support our work to review and update the minimum content requirements for Essential Skills Wales qualifications in Application of Number, Communication and Digital Literacy. The work will cover the following qualification levels:

• Entry Level 1- Level 3 Essential Application of Number Skills

• Entry Level 1- Level 3 Essential Communication Skills

• Entry Level 3- Level 3 Essential Digital Literacy Skills

Total quantity or scope of tender

The Subject Advisors will be required to undertake a review of the existing qualification subject content and develop a revised set of draft subject content requirements for the new Essential Skills Wales qualifications.

5 days’ work per subject advisor (per subject) has been allocated for the work

• Half day virtual meeting at the start of the work for Qualifications Wales to outline the work requirements (Tuesday 28 January );

• Three and a half days for the Subject Advisors to complete the work;

• One day in the Qualifications Wales offices to present their work and take part in a moderation exercise (w/c 17th February);

3 Conditions for Participation

3.1

Minimum standards and qualification required

Applicants should have either:

• Substantial experience of teaching and assessing Essential Skills Wales qualifications and/or other relevant skills-based qualifications (e.g. Functional Skills).

Or,

• Experience of reviewing and/or developing subject content for literacy, numeracy, and/or digital skills-based qualifications at equivalent levels (e.g. Functional Skills).
